Maggie

I’ve called this piece Maggie but she’s actually our wonderful resident backyard magpie Hilary. Partner to Martin. Mother to many new little magpie chicks of which she brings to introduce to us each year. We are honoured that she trusts us and includes us in her family group. Magpies are incredibly intelligent and once they trust and accept you, you are part of their family for life as they recognise your face. She helps me garden, walks into our house at her choosing and protects her family’s space (our yard) with bossiness and fairness. We adore our magpie family.
